The month of June has sure gone by fast and we have been busy and wet. The rain just keeps coming. The ground is saturated, the fields are swamp lands, the crops are turning yellow from too much water, there is flooding in many places and we are suppose to get rain all this next week. The nice thing for me is that it has been fairly cool and so it hasn't been terrible with the humidity because of the wind and lower temp. Tuesday we were coming home about
4 p.m. when a micro burst hit us. The rain was coming down in torrents and branches were being blown out of the trees and the road was a mess. I was so glad to get home, I was afraid we were going to have a tree fall on us. Some did come down but not when we were around thankgoodness.
On June 9th my friend Sherri and her granddaughter came to visit until the 11th. We had a great time going to Kirtland and the Johnson Farm in Hyrum.
On the 15th a couple in our ward came and got us and took us on a tour of the area. We went to a couple of the covered bridges we hadn't seen yet and then over to Middleton, Ohio. It is 90% Amish. It was fun seeing all their buggies and other means of travel. Lots of girls going around on scooters that look like bikes but instead of pedals there is a bar between the wheels and they have to push it. We went to an Amish garage sale and a couple of Amish stores and then to a Amish restaurant. Because it was Saturday lots of the men were in the fields working and mowing their lawns with those old push movers. Nearly every house had laundry out to dry. Lots of them put up a line from the house to the barn or a big tree and then just run the clothes up the line as they put them on. You can always tell an Amish house by their laundry because they have lots of white and blue and black but not much else, maybe gray or greenish gray, but no bright colors. It was a fun day and we are looking forward to going down there again. It is only about 30 minutes from us.

Missionary work is slow and a bit discouraging. The missionaries find quite a few people to teach but they all drop them after 2 or 3 lessons. Our ward goal for the year was to have 12 baptisms this year and we have had 1 and no real prospects in sight. We are having a little better luck with reactivation. We have 4 or 5 people we are working with and they are moving along well. Several are wanting to start taking the temple prep classes next week so we are excited about that. Hopefully we will have several people ready to go to the temple before the end of the year.

Our 1st couple of months here was spent going around trying to meet everyone in the ward. For the most part we have met nearly everyone that will allow visits and some we have gotten quite attached too and we spend much more time with them now, sometimes doing service or just visiting. Some need our attention more than others. Some aren't active at all and probably won't be anytime soon but they are so delightful to be with--we just love them and try to see them at least once a month. We have met a lot of non-members too that we really enjoy being with and visit with them whenever we get a chance. Everyone has been so nice and we are glad to be in this area. So far the weather hasn't been bad, the rain keeps it cool enough that even with the high humidity we are doing fine. July and August may be a different story.
